It is often recommended to train at least two times a week, two hours at a time. However, if you can not dedicate that amount of time, once a week will be a lot better than not training at all.

The short answer on how many times per week you should train boxing is to train as much as you want. Your goals can also have an impact on how much you should train.
For example, if you wish to be the next world champion in boxing, training once a week is probably not going to cut it. If that is the case, you should probably aim to do something towards your goals every single day.
On the other hand, if you just want to stay or get in shape, once or twice a week will benefit you greatly.
It is also important to keep in mind how your body is handling the physical stress boxing is putting on it. If you get too exhausted from training twice a week, go once a week. If you feel like you could do more, add more sessions to your weekly calendar. It is really that simple.
There is no right or wrong answer on how much you should train on a weekly basis. It all comes down to your personal preferences, your goals, and how much your body can handle.
Is training boxing once a week enough?
Despite some people claiming that once a week is not going to take you anywhere, let me tell you. It definitely will.
Boxing once a week for a year, or a decade is definitely going to improve your boxing skills. It is complete nonsense that boxing once a week does not get any results.
Have you heard of anyone who has been boxing once a week for a decade, and is still as good or bad as they were on their first day? I have not.
Some people simply don’t have the time to dedicate multiple evenings to boxing due to their life situations.
Others might have a hard time recovering from one lesson per week, and doing two would be too much for their bodies to handle.
As I mentioned before, everyone’s situation is unique, and there is no right answer to whether you should train once a week or every single day.
Is training boxing twice a week enough?
Training boxing twice a week is probably the most common way to train boxing. It is also the minimum of what boxing coaches recommend.
Twice a week is going to give you plenty of time to recover from each lesson, but also will get you to progress quite fast.
Boxing twice a week is quite doable for everybody, even if they have full-time jobs and families around. Finding two hours of free time twice a week should not be that difficult to do.
Training boxing twice a week will also get you progress, so you could even compete in some smaller tournaments if you want to. I am not saying you will become professional over the course of a month, but over time, if you keep up the two times a week training schedule, you will see progress.
Is training boxing three times a week enough?
Training boxing three times a week is definitely on the higher end. It still gives you time to recover between training sessions, if you go for a Monday-Wednesday-Friday training plan.
It will give you progress a lot faster than training once a week. If you have the time and energy to train three times per week, great! Go for it.
However, training three times a week is not necessary for a casual boxing hobbyist. If you wish to compete in boxing tournaments, no matter how small, boxing three times a week should do the trick.
Should you train boxing every day of the week?
Boxing every day is possible. However, it is important to get enough rest and let your body recover between each sessions.
Therefore, it is important to keep some of the training sessions lighter than others. Going full speed every single day sparring is going to exhaust you.
Another aspect to keep in mind when training boxing every day is how long you train. On some days, doing three hours of heavy training can drain a lot of energy. Maybe the next day take a bit lighter, with a 30-minute speed bag session or so.
