Finding the best MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) gym that is the best for YOUR needs can be a time-consuming task to do.
That is why I have created this list, which has potentially the best MMA gyms in New York.
I also have a post about things to keep in mind when choosing the right MMA gym, check it out if interested.
These gyms are not really in any particular order. There are so many great MMA gyms in New York, it is a challenging task to find all of them. However, based on hundreds of reviews, these are among the greatest MMA gyms in NY.
Now, let’s get started with the list of best MMA gyms in NYC.
Ronin Athletics – Gracie Jiu Jitsu, Kickboxing, MMA NYC
The first MMA gym on the list is Ronin Athletics, for an apparent reason. Ronin Athletics has gotten over 200 Google ratings, with 4,9 stars on average out of 5.
They have been operating since 2001 and are located in the heart of Manhattan.
On top of MMA, you can also practice BJJ and Kickboxing at their facilities.

Radical MMA NYC
The second MMA gym on the list is Radical MMA NYC. They also average 4.9 stars out of 5 from over 100 reviews.
Reviews speak highly, especially about the instructors who clearly know what they are doing. People also feel that they grow in their MMA skills, but also as persons due to the training.
They offer a free trial lesson, which you can book from their website: https://radicalmmanyc.com/
Evolution Muay Thai
Even though the name suggests this is purely a Muay Thai gym, they also do teach MMA.
They average 4.8 stars out of 5 from over 50 reviews on Google, and the reviews speak highly about the instructors.
As you can guess from the name, on top of MMA, you can also practice Muay Thai, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling, and judo in their facilities.

Ultimate Gym NYC
The next MMA gym on the list is Ultimate Gym NYC. They have been operating since 1997 and are located in Manhattan.
I am not sure whether they teach MMA directly, but they do teach Muay Thai, Boxing, and Luta Livre, which is a grappling martial art.
Combining all those three forms of fighting they make one good set for an MMA ring as well.

Renzo Gracie Academy
Next up on the list, we have Renzo Gracies Academy. This gym is also located in Manhattan, just like all the ones before this.
They have been operating since 1996.
Anyhow, they also have really positive ratings on Google, stating as follows:
“Best academy in the world. Very nice environment for both beginners and active competitors.”
“Best place and people. Thankful for this place and what I’ve learned here”
And the list goes on. By the time of writing this, they have almost 200 ratings with 4,6 stars out of 5. Not as clean of a record as the previous ones, but clearly some people find it the best.
On top of MMA, they also teach Muay Thai and BJJ.

How to choose the right MMA gym?
When it comes to choosing the right MMA gym, there are several things to keep in mind and look for.
Even though there are great and less great MMA gyms, it’s still not a one-size-fits-all kind of situation. Some people want a more competitive environment, whereas others might want more casual training.
Probably the biggest factors in choosing the best MMA gym for you are the location and the instructors of the gym.
Take a look at the gym’s websites, and find out all you can about the instructors and the reviews they have.

Beginner MMA tips
Since you are looking for an MMA gym, I guess you are just getting started.
I have a ton of information about MMA and other martial arts-related topics on my website.
Here is a post about everything you need to know about MMA.
These are SOME of the best MMA gyms in NYC or more like “best MMA gyms in Manhattan” since they are all located in Manhattan if I’m not mistaken
This doesn’t mean every gym that did not make it to this list is not great, but these are some with the best reviews online.
They have all also been operating for a long time, there might be new MMA gyms that have not yet that many reviews, and I missed them.
MMA gyms also are not all the same. Like people are not all the same. A gym that works great for someone else, might not be the best option for you.
Try to attend the free trial classes and look for what is the best option for you.
I hope this was helpful, good luck for choosing your MMA gym!
